Introduction †

GLD is one of the detector concepts for the International Linear Collider (ILC) experiment. We are working on R&D studies of scintillator-based fine-granularity calorimetry for the GLD detector. Our R&D studies include

• Construction of prototype calorimeters and test beam studies,
• Simulation study to optimize the calorimeter design for particle flow algorithm (PFA),
• Scintillator strips/tiles/cubes,
• Photon sensors (MPPC) and readout electronics,
• Absorber plates and mechanical structure, and
• Gain monitoring system.
